Life Safety 101 and CMS Compliance-The Basics

Learn to clearly identify the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards enforced by CMS to help promote a safe environment of care in skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities. You will come to understand the "basics" of Life Safety Code compliance with a specific focus on documentation requirements, as well as identifying commonly cited deficiencies and strategies for survey success.

Program Agenda:

  1. Identify the applicable editions of the main NFPA codes and standards enforced by CMS to help ensure Life Safety Code compliance in skilled nursing facilities.
  2. Explain specific compliance and documentation requirements required by CMS to help ensure a safe environment of care.
  3. Review common Life Safety Code deficiencies in skilled nursing facilities and strategies for compliance.
